Brian Bisignani Presents on the Central PA Banking Market for Lancaster Chamber on May 10

Principal Brian W. Bisignani recently co-presented, "The Changing Nature of Banking in Central PA," on May 10, 2017, with Dave Hornberger, Market President of the Lancaster Region of Orrstown Bank and Andrew Linn, Chief Information Security Officer of Orrstown Bank.

The presentation before members of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry focused how banking in Central Pennsylvania has changed significantly during the recent months. Changes include numerous acquisitions, including the acquisitions of Integrity Bank by S&T Bank; Susquehanna Bank by BB&T; National Penn Bank by BB&T; and Metro Bank by First National Bank of Pennsylvania. The presenters also examined the variety of banks entering into or expanding in Central Pennsylvania in general and in Lancaster County in particular.

They also discussed the targeting by the new administration in Washington, D.C. of the regulatory framework impacting banking, primarily the Dodd-Frank Act, and its potential impact. While some of the changes have been disruptive, they have created a variety of opportunities in the marketplace. Various factors driving these changes include the costs of compliance associated with Dodd-Frank, computer security related issues, and the economic opportunities available in the market.
