U.S.S.C. Guidelines at a Crossroads? White Collar Sentencing 10 Years Post-Booker

Since the Supreme Court’s decision in U.S. v. Booker nearly 10 years ago, the percentage of within-Guidelines sentences for all convicted defendants has decreased steadily. This trend has been even more pronounced for “white collar” offenses under the Section 2B1.1 economic crimes advisory Guideline. These trends have contributed to the debate about whether or not the Sentencing Guidelines – including the Section 2B1.1(b)(1) loss table – provide a fair starting point for a court’s sentencing decisions.

Please join us on Tuesday, April 29 for a 1-hour CLE panel discussion presented by the Philadelphia Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association (ABA) White Collar Crime Committee, which will examine these issues and what they may mean for white collar criminal defendants being sentenced today.
