Mark Mattioli Presents HIPAA Enforcement Update on LeadingAge Webinar on Jan. 24


On January 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET, Mark L. Mattioli presented the webinar, "HIPAA Enforcement Update: Avoid Scrutiny When Making Yearly Disclosures." The webinar was sponsored by LeadingAge.PA. 

Mr. Mattioli walked attendees through the HIPAA requirement to report any breach not exceeding 500 individuals to the OCR within 60 days after the end of the calendar year. The forms must be filled out online and failure to answer the questions appropriately could lead to a costly OIG investigation and potential civil fines. Participants reviewed the breach reporting form, discussed potential risk areas, and discussed general privacy practices to avoid potential liability. Recent enforcement trends by OCR were also discussed.
