Kenneth W. Christman is Counsel in the Firm's Energy & Utilities Practice Group. He counsels and represents natural gas, utilities, and pipeline companies in regulatory proceedings before state and federal regulatory bodies, including the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). This includes matters involving base rate increase requests, pipeline safety, restructuring proceedings, renewable energy, and hearings involving regulatory approval of transactions.
Mr. Christman has over 45 years of energy and utility experience, having served in the legal department of NiSource Corporate Services Company for 36 years, most recently as Assistant General Counsel. During his tenure, he represented the company and its subsidiaries before state and federal regulatory bodies, including the state utility commissions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Massachusetts. He was an integral member of the teams that oversaw major corporate transactions, including the sale of two gas distribution companies by NiSource and its predecessor, the Columbia Energy Group, and the spinoff of NiSource’s Columbia Pipeline Group.
Mr. Christman also served on the in-house legal team for a statewide association of rural electric cooperatives and an affiliated electric generation and transmission company in Ohio. He is also the former Legal Director and Chief Hearing Officer for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).
