Frequently handles catastrophic injury and large property loss claims for his clients. Prides himself on learning and understanding the nuances that each matter turns and educating himself on the many industries he is called upon to defend. Counsel clients on risk management and risk avoidance strategy as ancillary to ongoing and pending litigation.
Ian T. Baxter is a Principal in the firm's Casualty Litigation Department, representing clients in civil litigation before state and federal agencies and courts. Mr. Baxter's practice includes routine handling of matters involving liquor liability, products liability, catastrophic injury, large loss subrogation, civil rights violations,and premises liability matters. His clients span industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, health care, government, and individuals and small businesses. He prides himself on the "counselor" label attributed to attorneys, and ensures that each client has a detailed understanding of the litigation process and risks and strengths of each matter Mr. Baxter has been entrusted to handle.
Additionally, Mr. Baxter’s practice includes the representation of school districts and other local agencies involved in litigation. Mr. Baxter has a detailed understanding of the statutes and applicable law and has extensive experience litigating in this area of the law.
As a member of the Firm’s Liquor Liability Practice Group, Mr. Baxter frequently represents bars, restaurants, clubs, and individuals in liquor liability matters in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition to litigation, Mr. Baxter counsels clients on applicable laws and standards and assists with post-accident investigations. He is certified by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) in responsible alcohol service.
In 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Mr. Baxter was named by his peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star in the category of Personal Injury.
