Paul Schmidt Presents on Legionella in the Long-Term Care Industry on PACAH Webinar on Oct. 29

On October 29, 2020, Paul M. Schmidt presented the webinar, "Legionella in Nursing Homes:
What are the Risks and What Can (or Must) Facilities Do About It," at 9:15 am. The webinar was presented to membership of PELICAN RRG, which provides professional liability and general liability insurance coverage, and is a sponsored program of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare & Living Communities (PACAH).

The webinar provided nursing homes, and similar residential-style facilities, with the tools necessary to determine whether their operations may present a risk of serious Legionella infection and, if so, how they can evaluate and address that risk.

Mr. Schmidt covered:

  1. An overview of the Legionella problem and a history of serious incidents.
  2. How Legionella develops and is transmitted and why protocols to minimize COVID-19 transmission can increase Legionella risk.
  3. Regulatory obligations and best practices to control Legionella and respond to incidents.
  4. Tools for administrators and their staff to address Legionella risks at their facilities.
