Doug Canter Examines a Recent FERC Ruling Regarding Solar Power in Maryland for EnergyCentral

November 22, 2016

In a November 23rd article for EnergyCentral, Energy & Utilities Principal Douglas M. Canter examined news that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) had dismissed a petition filed by two Maryland electric cooperatives that sought a declaratory ruling on whether Maryland’s community solar power program violates federal law.

Mr. Canter noted that the FERC's dismissal of the petition "deferred one big question: did the cooperatives’ concerns over program pricing rules implicate only 'nuances specific to a single Maryland Community Solar program,' as alleged by Solar City Corporation, or raise broad questions, such as 'whether annual netting in a net-metering program would be reasonable,' as suggested by the American Petroleum Institute?"
