Cindy Haines and Elizabeth Hein Examine Revising Healthcare Provider Business Associate Agreements Post-COVID for Law360
In the June 17, 2020 Law360 article, "Health Cos.' Biz Associate Agreements Need COVID-19 Update," Cynthia A. Haines and Elizabeth M. Hein examine why healthcare providers should consider revising their Business Associate Agreements (BAA) due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other recent developments.
The authors note:
"Healthcare providers and their business associates have faced constantly shifting regulatory requirements and operational changes over the last few months. These developments include federal enforcement related to COVID-19, increased use of telehealth, and the publication of new federal regulations related to interoperability. Given these developments, it is an opportune time for providers to revisit and amend their business associate agreements, or BAAs.
