Colby S. Bryson is a Principal in the Firm's Casualty Litigation Department and focuses his practice on a wide array of civil litigation matters across several jurisdictions including premises liability, products liability, toxic tort, industrial accidents, property damage, motor vehicle claims, consumer class actions, commercial disputes, and breach of contract. This includes the defense of clients in claims involving fatalities, permanent injuries, property damage, fires, and dig-in accidents.
Mr. Bryson has a comprehensive understanding of the complex issues that arise in litigation involving utility companies, including joint use agreements and the contractual indemnification issues that may arise. He has represented utility companies in numerous cases across multiple jurisdictions at the trial and appellate court levels. Mr. Bryson has briefed and argued dispositive motions in state and federal courts that have resulted in defense rulings and served as first chair in a jury trial that secured a defense verdict.

- Obtained summary judgment for electrical utility client wherein plaintiff was attempting to deliver building supplies when he encountered telephone and cable lines on private property; plaintiff attempted to manipulate the lines to raise them to a level sufficient to allow him to pass and inadvertently made contact with our client’s primary distribution line, causing catastrophic injuries to self. The lawsuit was filed in Circuit Court of Monongalia County, West Virginia.
- Prepared comprehensive appellate brief on behalf of our utility company client after summary judgment was granted in a wrongful death claim in Erie County stemming from a fire; Pennsylvania Superior Court ultimately affirmed summary judgment in favor of the utility company.
