Matt Newcomer's white collar sentencing article published in NACDL's The Champion

An article by Matt Newcomer regarding obtaining better sentences in white collar criminal cases was published in the May issue of The Champion, the official publication of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Newcomer's article, entitled "Fighting for Downward Sentencing Variances for White Collar Defendants: Useful Post-Booker and Post-Gall Trends," highlights post-Booker arguments and sentencing factors that have been used successfully to obtain below-Guidelines sentences for white collar defendants and which have withstood appellate scrutiny post-Gall. Although this article is of particular interest to white collar defense practitioners and their clients, the sentencing factors highlighted in Mr. Newcomer's article could apply to a much broader range of criminal defendants.
