Energy & Utilities
Post & Schell’s Energy & Utilities Practice Group assists clients in a broad range of regulatory and transactional matters involving the electric, Marcellus Shale, natural gas, oil and liquids pipeline, renewable/alternative energy, and water/wastewater industries.
Our Group’s attorneys have extensive experience before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PPUC) and other state public utility commissions and courts, as well as in related transactional matters. Post & Schell attorneys include former FERC and PPUC staffers, as well as attorneys who have previously clerked for federal and state appellate judges.
At the federal level, the Energy & Utilities Group represents pipeline and utility applicants and shipper intervenors in matters involving rate filings, tariff filings, litigated rate cases, certificate proceedings, rulemakings, export/import licenses, Presidential Permits, gathering exemptions, Hinshaw pipeline rates, intrastate pipeline operating statements, and compliance matters, as well as related appellate proceedings.
Before the PPUC, our attorneys represent clients in matters involving base-rate increase requests, pipeline safety and incident investigations, retail supply competition, purchase and sale of public utility properties, new public utilities, major financings, potential legislation, and proposed regulations.
The Group has extensive knowledge of cost-of-service ratemaking, regulated tariff, market-based rates, utility merger, pipeline access, utility interconnection, electric transmission siting, energy efficiency, renewable energy credits, energy procurement, and natural gas pipeline safety matters.
Our lawyers seek to understand client businesses and use their extensive experience and knowledge of the industry to develop creative solutions to achieve client objectives in a cost-effective way.
