Principal Sarah Yerger Honored by the PBA's Commission on Women in the Profession with the 2014 Lynette Norton Award
May 14, 2014
Post & Schell is pleased to announce that Principal Sarah C. Yerger, resident in the Firm’s Harrisburg, Pa. Office, has been selected by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s (PBA) Commission on Women in the Profession as the 2014 Lynette Norton Award honoree.
The Lynette Norton Award honors a female attorney who excels in litigation skills and is devoted to assisting other women who follow in the profession of law. The Award is named for Lynette Norton, a founding member of the PBA’s Commission on Women in the Profession, who passed away suddenly in 2002. Ms. Norton did much to significantly improve the status of women in the legal profession, by her own personal professional excellence, as well as her untiring efforts to fight discrimination and help other female attorneys to succeed.
“Sarah exemplifies the excellence and virtues this Award was designed to recognize,” said Brian M. Peters. “Her community involvement, particularly on behalf of the legal profession and women in the law, is well documented and appreciated throughout the Commonwealth. I offer the Firm’s collective congratulations to her on this deserved recognition.”
Ms. Yerger is a Principal in the Firm's Commercial Litigation and Professional Licensure Practice Groups. She regularly represents the Firm's clients in affirmative and defense commercial and constitutional litigation, professional licensure law, regulatory compliance & litigation, and employment defense litigation. Prior Prior to joining Post & Schell, Ms. Yerger served as Senior Deputy Attorney General, in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. For over a decade she represented and counseled Commonwealth agencies and employees in federal and state court litigation.
Her professional affiliations include serving as President of the James S. Bowman, American Inn of Court; as Vice President of the Federal Bar Association's Middle District of Pennsylvania Chapter; and on the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the United States Middle District of Pennsylvania. Ms. Yerger was also on the PBA's Government Lawyers Committee, was Co-chair of the PBA's Commission on Women in the Profession, and was recognized by the PBA in 2005 as "Government Lawyer of the Year."
Ms. Yerger received the award at the PBA Commission on Women in the Profession Annual Conference on May 14 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pa.
