Kenneth W. Lee
Kenneth W. Lee is a Principal in the Firm's Construction, Government Contracts & Surety Law Practice Group. He practices in the areas of commercial contracts and the litigation thereof, construction litigation, construction-related insurance matters, municipal and government contracts, and surety law. Mr. Lee represents owners, contractors (including general contractors, subcontractors, and specialty contractors) and surety providers in all fields of the construction industry. He has handled mechanics’ lien and litigation matters in numerous states, has written and lectured on most areas in which he practices, and has acted as an expert witness. Mr. Lee drafted the Contracts Section of the Pennsylvania Standard Jury Instructions (2nd, 3rd, 4th Eds.) published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Mr. Lee has handled litigation in the state, commonwealth and federal courts of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Connecticut, Tennessee, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, California and West Virginia, and those states’ specialized courts such as the Pennsylvania Board of Claims and the West Virginia Court of Claims. In addition, he has tried cases before the American Arbitration Association, Federal Mediation Service and “private” dispute panels.
He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Cumberland County Bar Association, and the Dauphin County Bar Association, formerly the Better Business Bureau where he served as an arbitrator/mediator, and the Associated Pennsylvania Constructors (APC). He has been appointed to the following national committees for The Associated General Contractors of America: Construction Education Committee, Surety Bonding Committee, and Contract Documents Committee. Ken also sits on the Board of Directors of The National Civil War Museum, the Allocation Committee of the Capital Region United Way, the Scholarship Committee of Executive Women International, and the Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee.
Mr. Lee has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® from 2006 to 2019 in the Construction Law category and named from 2006 - 2013 and 2017 and 2018 as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer® in the Construction/Surety Law Category. Mr. Lee is a 1987 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he received the Faculty Award for Legal Scholarship and was Director of the Legal Assistance Program. He is a graduate of The Mercersburg Academy, earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gettysburg College, obtained a Master of Arts Degree from Villanova University and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
