Joseph V. Conroy, IV
Joseph V. Conroy, IV is a Principal in the Firm's Professional Liability Defense Practice Group, managing all aspects of complex medical and legal malpractice claims. He focuses his practice on the litigation of professional liability matters where he represents health care systems, hospitals, acute rehabilitation facilities, physicians, nurses and other health care providers. An experienced Principal responsible for all aspects of case management, Mr. Conroy drafts pleadings, prepares and responds to discovery, argues motions, conducts depositions of witnesses, prepares witnesses for deposition and trial testimony, retains and works with expert witnesses, and participates in trial preparation and settlement negotiations. He has argued cases in arbitration and has conducted a bench trial. In addition, he has served as second chair in jury trials in complex medical malpractice lawsuits in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mr. Conroy has developed and delivered several educational programs for clients, including presentations to physicians, nurses and other hospital staff about the importance of communication in improving outcomes and reducing litigation, documentation issues, Pennsylvania’s Benevolent Gestures Act and issues seen in litigation.
Prior to joining Post & Schell, P.C., Mr. Conroy worked in the Philadelphia office of a regional full-service firm, where he focused his practice on professional liability and represented national health care systems, as well as hospitals and physicians. He co-authored a chapter entitled Mandatory Disclosure of Adverse Events to Patient/Family, which appeared in the Enterprise Risk Management Handbook for Healthcare Entities, published by the American Health Lawyers Association.
